Renate D. Williams Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Renate D. Williams, 93, beloved wife of Charles A. Williams, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Richmond, Virginia on May 18, 2022. Prior to relocating to Richmond, Va., five years ago following the death of her husband, Renate considered herself a true Louisvillian. Born in Berlin, Germany and emigrating to Louisville in 1954 she became a US citizen on November 20, 1970, often stating it was one of her proudest moments. Shortly prior to and after marrying the love of her life she worked for TWA and as an executive secretary until her nurturing spirit led her to stop working outside of the home to care for her husband and children. Renate had many interests and hobbies throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking and kept family and friends well fed with culinary delights from dinner parties at her home to special themed meals while houseboating on Cumberland Lake. She had a wanderlust and enjoyed traveling with her family coast to coast in the family station wagon. Renate also enjoyed being active in many social organizations, including the Fifth Wheel Club, various bridge groups and bowling leagues, and Douglass Hills Homemakers. Keeping up with her German heritage, she was active with the German Girls group, and the Louisville German American Club. For many years, Renate and Charles were members of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she joyfully sang in the church choir. Their faith then led them to become committed and active members of Harvey Browne Presbyterian Church. Renate was preceded in death by her husband Charles and infant son Andy R. Williams. She is survived by her children, Dr. Russell Williams (Terrie) of Louisville and Rhonda Lyon (Tim) of Richmond, Va., three grandsons, Jared Williams (Kathleen), Travis Williams (Sara) and Alex Williams (Evan), and two granddaughters, Catherine Lyon and Kimberly Lyon, and a new great granddaughter, Eleanor Williams. A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Zachary Taylor National Cemetery on Monday, May 23, 2022. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes To Remember".
