Nina Susan Blair

Nina Susan Blair, 90, Louisville, KY, peacefully left this world on May 4th to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with her husband Murl and some of her immediate family by her side. She was born in Paintsville, KY, on March 30, 1932, daughter of DeMoville Pendleton Jones Sr. and Edith Nina Jones (Richardson). She was a member of First Baptist Church in Prospect, KY. A graduate of the all girl’s Atherton High School, she married her high school sweet heart Dr. Joseph B. Brill, settled in the East End of Louisville and happily became an amazing mother to 4 boys and 1 girl. Joe and Nina were happily married and always together for 63 years, ending when Joe tragically succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 86. Besides raising a big family while married to her beloved Joe, Nina happily devoted much of her life to church activities, which included being a wonderful musician, mastering the piano, flute, piccolo and bag pipes. She also sang in the choir and assisted with youth choral groups. She also loved to run, finishing 4 mini-marathons and numerous road races, was a loyal U of L Cardinals fan, and loved to attend the opera and local plays. In addition she loved to watch her children and grandchildren participating in various activities The widowed Nina remarried on September 15, 2018 to her second match made in heaven husband Murl G. Blair, 92, meeting while they were lovingly attending to their former spouses at the Barton House. They enjoyed attending church activities, riding in Murl’s golf cart, eating out, visiting with family and watching game shows and sporting events on TV. In addition to her parents, Nina is predeceased by her former husband, Dr. Joseph B. Brill and daughter Kathy Elaine Wells. Surviving in addition to her husband and his entire large family, are her brother DeMoville (Sonny) Pendleton Jones II and his wife Patti Jean, her sons Rev. Robert (Bob) Douglas Brill and his wife Suellen, Richard (Rick) Alan Brill and his wife Julie, James (Jim) Philip Brill and his wife Lori and Gary Thomas Brill and his wife Keri. In addition, Nina has 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday May 9th with a service of remembrance at noon on Tuesday May 10th both at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY, 40207, with internment immediately following at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40204.
