Mary Louise Schrage Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Louise "Mary Lou" Stauble Schrage passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning July 12th, 2022 in the Palliative Care unit of Baptist Hospital. She was 87. Mary Lou was born August 5, 1934 in Louisville, one of three daughters to Gilbert Joseph Stauble and Irene Kremer Stauble. She grew up a member of St. James Parish and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1952 where she was captain of the field hockey team, a guard on the basketball team and President of the 100 Club. She graduated in 1955 from St Anthony School of Nursing to become a registered nurse, working for Dr Fred Rulander, a general practitioner, then at St Anthony’s Hospital in the Obstetrics Ward and in the last nearly 2 decades of her career as a psychiatric nurse at Our Lady Of Peace Hospital. Mary Lou volunteered her time serving as a volleyball and softball coach for many years at St. Agnes school and later in life, she enjoyed her involvement in the St Agnes Senior Group. She was especially fond of logic and math oriented games like bridge, Rummikub and solitaire. She was always up for a good jigsaw puzzle, liked gardening and loved to travel. She enjoyed cookouts and games with her great grandkids. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward L Schrage, sister, Patricia Jean Bailey, and grandsons, Zachary William Schrage, Daniel Rauh and Brandon Schrage. Mary Lou is survived by her sister, Nancy Haugh, four children, Susan Rauh (Dick), Kathy Linares (Edgar), Ed Schrage, Jr and Gil Schrage (Johanna), and seven grandchildren, Rachell Rauh, Rebecca Mitchell (Leroy), Jessica Linares, Justen Linares (Maggie), Ryan Schrage, Nicholas Schrage, McKenna Schrage and Lydia Schrage. Visitation will be from 3 - 7 p.m. on Friday, August 5th at Pearson's Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road with burial following at Calvary Cemetery 1600 Newburg Road. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes To Remember".
