November 5, 1947 - March 26, 2021
Linda Sue St Clair Engle, 73, passed peacefully at the Masonic Homes of Louisville, Kentucky on Friday, March 26th 2021. Born to Thomas and Dorothy St Clair on November 5th 1947, she graduated from Waggener High School and was a dedicated and loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. Each day since 1985, she was with her second family at Bob Hook Chevrolet, where she always greeted people with a smile and kind voice, proudly helped organize charity events and was happy to lend a hand however she could. Her witty humor and zest for fun was evident by her smiling Irish eyes as she laughed at, or told, a good joke. As an avid reader, she always had multiple books at her fingertips, reading them simultaneously. And, upon completion, she was eager to share them with others so they, too, could share in the mind’s journey she’d just enjoyed. She loved playing bunco with her friends, watching football and NASCAR (especially when winning the weekly competition at work). Nothing, however, trumped her love of the University of Louisville Cardinals’ basketball and football programs. Linda was the first to offer a helping hand, a sympathetic shoulder or to be a non-judgmental sounding board. She thought of others before herself and was fiercely loyal and protective of those around her. She made many friends that she cherished and kept for life. She is reunited with her aforementioned parents; youngest son, Thomas Grant; and other dearly departed loved ones and friends preceding her in death. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her and is survived by her eldest son, William Hurst “Bill” Engle Jr (Jackie), her sister Betsy Skiles, nephew Dean Skiles, grand-puppy Hershey and a wealth of dearly loved friends, coworkers and neighbors. If preferred, donations to the charity of your choice, Kosair Charities or the Masonic Homes of Louisville can be made in lieu of flowers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30th from 1pm – 7pm. A short visitation at 1pm on Wednesday March 31st prior to the Funeral Service at 2pm at Pearson’s Funeral Home (149 Breckenridge Lane Louisville KY 40207). Burial service will follow at 3pm at Resthaven Memorial Park (4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville KY 40218). Anyone planning to attend visitation, burial services or gathering afterwards are asked to adhere to all Covid 19 precautions and safety measures, honoring social distancing and wearing masks, even if vaccinated, in an abundance of caution. Also due to Covid 19 regulations, no food can be accepted at the funeral home. However, all those wishing to gather afterwards at her son’s home are welcomed.
