lngun Helene Silverman, born Nov. 10th 1935 died Saturday, Jan. 22nd 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a native of Berlin, Germany and was the wife of the late Dr. Irving Silverman. lngun came from a strong scientific background. Her father, Prof. Dr. Rudolf Liebold (Nuclear Physicist), deceased. Her mother, Frieda Charlotte Therese, deceased. Her first husband, Andre Carol Clement Lair, born in Paris, France, deceased. lngun is survived by her son, Jean-Louis C. Lair, his wife, Jennifer, and two grandchildren, Alex and Sam, residing in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as by her brother, Dr. Ruediger Liebold, his wife, Karin, and their two children and families, Dr. Kristin Hasenoehrl and Holger Liebold, all living in Germany; stepdaughters, Susan Silverman, and Deborah Silverman. lngun is also survived by her loving partner, Robert H. Mayo, since the year of 2002. lngun was brought to the USA in 1962 by Prof. Dr. Ernest Witebsky to work in Microbiology and Immunology Research at the University of Buffalo, N.Y. Later, lngun was professionally active in clinical Laboratories at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY, and became supervisor of Microbiology. 1984 she was asked by the University of Louisville to start under the OB - GYN Department an IVF Laboratory. lngun is a member of the J.B. Speed Museum, the Sierra Club, the U. of L. Women's Club and a member of the Episcopal Church, St. Francis in the Fields, Prospect, KY., where she also volunteered for several years with joy and dedication. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 27th, at St. Francis in the Fields, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Rd. Harrods Creek, KY 40027 with reception to follow. Masks are encouraged and appreciated.
