Elsie Rose Wright Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elsie Rose Wright May 17, 1941 - June 6, 2022 She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years (Sydney Edward), her Mother Elizabeth Pearson, her Step Father Clyde Pearson and her brother Gerald Wolf. She is survived by her two sons John S. Wright and William A. Wright, three grandchildren Daniel, Shannon and Craig and three great grandchildren Colton, Elias and Michael. She is also survived by a Brother-in-law (Richard), two Sisters-in-law (Jan) and (Sarah) and a Niece (Holley). Elsie attended Sacred Heart Academy and Waggener High School and was a secretary at the Brown Hotel. After marrying in 1965 she worked with Syd in their business by showing rental properties and securing leases. After her second child was born she gave up working to serve as a devoted Mother and homemaker. Having spent a good portion of her youth as part of the Pearson Funeral Home family, Mom had an affinity for Cadillacs and often referred to herself as a “Cadillac Girl”. And yet while she certainly had an appreciation for the finer things, there was nothing pretentious about her. Mom spent her first eight years living on a farm in Bethlehem, In. She loved horses and farms. She would bait her own hook, clean the fish and fry them in a cast iron skillet on an open fire next to a shoreline. She loved a good, cold beer and a brat as much as wine and lobster. She loved the water and being in a boat or on a houseboat. She loved the Kentucky Derby and all that goes with it and never more so than when Winning Colors won in 1988. Mom loved to bowl and belonged to a bowling league. She loved playing dart ball at the Bonnycastle Club with her husband. Mom belonged to the Cardinal Dames and volunteered at the Parrish House feeding soldiers at the U of L football tailgates before climbing aboard an old fire truck and riding over to the games. Elsie (Mom) was a generous, loving and kind soul. She was a devoted wife and Mother. And she exuded old school feminine strength in a gentle manner. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service for family only will be held on Saturday June 11th. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Kentucky Humane Society.
