Barbara Jane Schwabe Lamkin
May 8, 1949 - January 28, 2022
Barbara Jane Schwabe Lamkin There are very few people in this world who are truly beautiful on the inside and outside. Barbara S. Lamkin was one of those few. It would not have been any stretch of the imagination to say that she was an angel. Her kindness, love for all, generosity and poise were unequivocal. Her love of children shone through as she raised two of her own in the most graceful manner possible and taught hundreds of other children as a school teacher and Sunday school teacher. Her teaching did not end there as she continued to share her love of art by volunteering at the J.B. Speed Art Museum as a docent where she toured groups around the museum. Barbara’s love of art stemmed from multiple trips to France where she relished in visiting art museums and absorbing the French way of life. And by her side for 36 years for all these adventures was her husband, Dan L. Lamkin. Together they enjoyed travel, the arts, volunteering and being a part of the congregation at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Barbara S. Lamkin was born in Lansing, Michigan on May 8, 1949 and passed away on January 28, 2022. She was a graduate of Westport High School and Murray State University. Barbara is survived by her husband, Dan L. Lamkin, her son William Taylor Runner IV, her daughter Jennifer Runner Grasser, her grandson Tristan Gray Wright and her two dogs Andy and Murphy. Barbara is also survived by her two brothers, Charles Schwabe and Robert Schwabe and a host of other amazing cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry Frank Schwabe and Dorothy Englehardt Schwabe. A visitation will be held at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
