Elisabeth Allen Young

YOUNG, ELISABETH ALLEN, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at her home.

She was a native of Louisville. She graduated from Atherton High School, earned a BA from Agnes Scott College, and an MA from the University of Louisville. She was a lifetime member of Second Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Circle Leader and a Stephens Minister.

She was also actively involved in Christian outreach efforts serving the poor in our community, throughout her life.

She was a former chairperson of the Board of Directors Wayside Christian Mission, a dedicated teacher at Jefferson Community College and a longtime member of the Monday Afternoon Club.

She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edward Preston Young; and her brother, William Hogue Allen Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Frances Allen Terry; children, Edward Preston Young Jr., (Jane), William Crittenden Young (Elisabeth) of Indianapolis, IN, Ann Young Botula (Daniel), of Bowling Green, KY, and Elisabeth Young Clark (Kennedy); and grandchildren, Daniel and Allison Botula, Patrick and Wathen Young and Samuel Young.

Funeral service will be at held 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Second Presbyterian Church, 3701 Old Brownsboro Road with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at Pearson's, 149 Breckinridge Lane.
