Edward A. Dunagan Sr

DUNAGAN, EDWARD A. SR., 70, passed away February 3, 2012 at Norton Hospital surrounded by his family and special lady, Laura.
Mr. Dunagan was born to the late Hubert Leon Dunagan, Sr., and the former Mary Rebecca Mattingly in Louisville, on December 4, 1941. He was a graduate of DeSales High School and the University of Louisville.
Ed was a Jefferson County Police Officer, where he began his service in 1963, he worked the district, was a member of the Motorcycle unit, promoted to detective and sergeant. He joined State Farm in 1975 and retired a few years ago.
Ed was a member of the Bishop Spalding Council # 2761, Knights of Columbus, where he was volunteer of the year for the past three years, and was currently serving as the secretary of the Knights of Columbus Boat Club. He was an avid boater, living on the Mouse Trap year round. He had an OUPV Captains license. He was a member of HCBOA, the Louisville Power Squadron and was the past president of the Aero Club at Bowman Field Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Byers Dunagan.
He is survived by brother, Hubert Leon Dunagan Jr. (Shirley); sister, Patricia Dunagan (Alvin Guenthner); his children, Laura Dunagan-Scherzinger, Jackie Stotts (Dave), Ed Dunagan, Jr. and Angela Dunagan; his grandchildren, Heather, Timothy, Gregory, Joseph, Sam and Emie; a great-grandson, Noah, his companion, Laura Humbert; and beloved cats, Sylvester and Taz.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, the Knights, and his fellow River Rats.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father James Hackett, Chaplain of the Boat Club, 10:30 AM, Tuesday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 770 Eastern Pkwy., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Pearson's Funeral home, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Monday February 6, 2012, noon-9 p.m.
