Ruby Stone Johnson Gordinier
Ruby Stone Johnson Gordinier, of Louisville, died at her home in Cherokee Gardens on Wednesday, March 8, 2006.
She was born in Wasioto, KY on October 13, 1913 to W.J. Stone and Bessie Mae Parsons Stone. Her family moved to Pineville, KY, where she spent her childhood years.
She met her first husband, Henry M. Johnson, Jr., at Milligan College where they were married. After his death, she married Dr. John D. Gordinier.
Ruby was a member of the Douglass Boulevard Christian Church; member and former president of the Highland Mothers Club, Crescent Hill Womans Club, and the CWF and Bazaar at her church; and member of the Arts Club, Executives Club of Louisville, Woman's Club of Louisville, Pendennis Club, Big Spring Country Club, and the Alliance of the Speed Museum. She was also an active member and former president of the Belknap, Highland, and Atherton PTAs.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Owings; and brothers, Sam, Kenneth, and Charles Stone.
She is survived by a son, H. Mark Johnson of Denver, CO; a daughter, Volindah J. Costabell; and four grandchildren, C. Mark Costabell, Resli Ellen Costabell of London, England, Sarah Johnson-Gomez of Killingsworth, CT, and Kate Johnson of Sharon, NH. She is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy Chasteen of Winston-Salem, NC, Maisie Hoskins of Pineville, KY, and Sara Martin of Lake Junaluska, NC.
